Our story
OTC was founded in February 1978 as Oldtimer Cameras Ltd, supplying printed camera manuals to photographers who had lost their manual or bought a second-hand camera without one. I bought the company in 2002 and changed the name to OTC Ltd in 2003.
Over the years, we expanded into smartphones and tablets — devices that typically don't include any printed manual at all. Manufacturers expect you to read hundreds of pages online or figure things out yourself. Many people, especially seniors and those new to technology, find this frustrating.
What changed in 2025
For over 20 years, we printed and bound the manufacturer's own PDF manuals. These were technically accurate but often written in confusing language, assumed too much knowledge, and weren't designed for true beginners.
In 2025, we took a new approach. We now write our own original beginner guides for iPhone and Android smartphones. These aren't reprints of manufacturer PDFs — they're purpose-built for seniors and first-time users, created by instructors who understand what new smartphone owners actually need to know.
Our guides cover the everyday essentials: making calls, sending texts, using WhatsApp, taking photos, backing up safely, browsing the internet, staying safe online, and customising your phone for comfort. Written in plain English, with large text, clear screenshots, and a patient tone throughout.

Dispatch & delivery
We work out of offices in Oxfordshire with a dedicated team processing orders as quickly as possible. Orders received in the morning ship that afternoon; orders received later ship the next working day.
UK orders typically arrive within 2 days. European orders arrive in 4–6 days. Rest of world arrives in 7–10 days.
